Antioxidant vitamins

Antioxidant vitamins found in fruits, tea, vegetables and supplements and is proving to be powerful agents in the fight against the disease caused by free radicals.
Original concept was to take the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamins to a level that would prevent acute deficiency diseases such as scurvy and diseases and seas. These are the standards that have been created there GDR.

However, in recent years, research has shown that vitamins taken in large doses can prevent chronic diseases such as cutting cancer and heart disease. A debate still rages, but there is a lot of research on vitamin A, C, E and anti-oxidant vitamins.

And showed the National Institutes of Health clinical trial involving people at high risk of developing advanced macular degeneration related to age (AMD), and this risk patients decreased by 25 percent when treated with high doses of antioxidant vitamins and zinc.

Another study showed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta that taking multivitamins with vitamin E reduces the risk of stroke and heart disease. Among the patients who took the combination, reduced the risk of death by 15 percent for both diseases.

In September, concluded the National Institutes of Health (NIH) study to examine the relationship between vitamin C and cancer, suggesting that Vitamin C may fight cancer. The researchers found in a laboratory setting, that high doses of Vitamin C injected directly into the bloodstream killed cancer cells.

Although current RDA stuck for vitamin C 60 mg, many researchers suggest that the increase of the GDR between 100 and 200 mg would be a great way for people to get the antioxidants they need to maintain the most comprehensive and .

Be careful when purchasing vitamins and supplements though. Research has shown that whole food vitamins, or vitamins with their colleagues factors are more effective than isolated nutrients. Nutrition is a complex process of thousands of chemical reactions in our body. Vitamins are always better in their natural state - in the foods we eat. Should never be used as complements rather than malnutrition.

The smart choice is to look for whole food vitamins to supplement a good diet already said that you can not get everything you need in a meal time.
